Hello All,

My Fire Star is ready at last. All problems solved, all but one. I made a skeg like Björn Thomasson with two pull wires, one to raise and one to lower. I used two wires in one pipe. Drie it functioned well but wet the wires will not move any more. Will solve that problem too.

Below are some pictures. The hull is made of poplar, the deck from Dutch grown WRC with accent strips of merbau. I uses rolling bevels. The skeg case is multiplex with one layer of glass in and out. The kajak has two layers in and out (160 g/m2). It weighs 20 kg totaly fitted. It has Maroske fittings. The seat is epoxy with 6 layers glass. It is a copy of the seat in my P&H Baidarka Explorer just as in all my self made kajaks. The kajak is coated with two layer PU lacker ( Double UV)

Today I paddled one hour in it and I liked it very much. Can say nothing about behaviour on rough water because it was calm. The kayak feels less stable than my Night Heron but I only paddle that one fully loaded. This one will also be more stable with a lot of luggage. I like the looks of this kayak.
