Bending thin strips of wood (say 4 strips of 0.125" x 2" ) would allow greater upper deck clearance.
The attached images is showing an early attempt to modify Sea Rider frame #4 (just in front of cockpit).
I could save another 0.75" of clearance using bent wood compared to cutting plywood.
