one that was completed two years ago.

The old one has milky looking spots. Most of the kayak looks good, 20% is a little milky and 10% is a lot milky. I really didn't notice it until I started varnishing which made it really stand out.

Hold on. Photos in order, assumptions not.

You never varnished the old kayak until now?

The old kayak either had problems to begin with, if not, something happen which has nothing to do with blush.

Obviously, divergent variables ensued.
