Have you ever used those Rob? Those are the intermediate discs you need to use the Abralon discs on a hook-and-loop pad. With my sander and dust collection they are literally dust free, which is an advantage sometimes, especially when you're sanding entire sheets of plywood with fine grit like 180 or 220, but they are not a protector in the least. I usually use up two of those per one box of Abralon, and my dealer actually gives them away free when you buy the Abralon. If fiberglass "dust" will kill the velcro on my pad after an hour or so, one of those would be gone in minutes.
