Pam and I spent three weeks in Italy about ten years ago. Venice, Florence, and Lake Garda. End of Sept beginning Oct. it was a good time for us. The tourist rush was over, and great accommodation bargains available too. Also not too hot any more.

I have a friend who does the Venice sailing regatta every year. I can't run in those circles though. Not enough dough.
