.right now the issue is that I have about 150 8' strips that need to get scarfed (I'm exaggerating but you get the point)...

I'm working with a new "on the boat" scrafing technique.

I scarf the broad faces of strip ends on a block plane jig. Then dry fit the strips on the hull with the scarf joints floating between stations.

Spring clamp the scarf joint and mark it so it can be reassembled perfectly. Mark the strips so they can be replaced exactly on the hull. Glue and clamp the strips, then hot glue and spring clamp a 1/16" section of scrap strip to the interior surface of the scarf joint. After 90 seconds remove the clamps and sister another piece of 1/16" strip on the exterior face and spring clamp for 90 seconds.

This can be done off the hull also making up full length strips without long waits for glue to cure with clamps in place.
