I'm no mathematician, but I'd say you increase your glue surface area by at least 50% by using B+C. To a lot of people this is insignificant because they can't fit a tight joint anyway. Using "hand-beveled" is not going to make the joints fit better for someone who can't fit a B+C joint. If you can't even mill a strip the right thickness to run through a 1/4" B+C bit set with power tools, how do you think hand planes are going to work out? I have seen way too many kayaks with fractured glass at the joints between strips that people say are "bubbles" from a dark-colored hull, but are the result of a poor glue joint in the strips giving no structural strength to the glass. Glass gonna do what glass gonna do- break. It works for you. I use it in some situations, but I'll take the stronger glue joint. I can accurately mill stock at the rate I did when I worked in a professional shop, which is apparently many times faster than most people.
