Strip: Sanded through fiberglass weave

I've been working on a Rob Macks Twin Star tandem for the last couple years. Been pecking away at the project between a busy life of work, house projects, kids, ect. Rob's instructions along with this forum have provided some invaluable advice and 'how to' along the way. Thank you!

Recently I've encountered a problem with sanded fiberglass weave on the nose bow of the boat. It was necessary to sand into the weave to get the surface even with the nose of the baidarka. The problem is that the exposed weave won't wet out when resin is applied. I experimented with heating the area and applying resin but it just won't soak in. (I wiped off the resin after the experiment) There appears to be no contamination of 'pulling back' of the resin. I used some purple heart for accent strips and the bow and wondering if the oils in the wood are part of the problem although resin adhesion is good.

When the 6oz glass was applied I followed all the instructions of heating the shop, using a seal coat prior to applying the glass, ect and had no problems with the glass completely wetting out for a transparent layup. Applied the fill coats with no issues and continued the build not without challenges but more or less no major problems. Resin is System Three slow. BTW the glass used to join the hull wets out fine after sanding in.

You guys have any tricks up your sleeve? Should I cut the glass back and re-apply? Worried I'll just have the same problem.
