Strip: Glass and CF question

I know that the inherent strength of the glass is because of the long continuous fibres of glass and the same is true for Carbon Fibre. But my question is; would there be a significant loss of strength when using Carbon Fibre on the inside of the hull if 2 pieces were overlapped instead of using 1 piece. Since Carbon Fibre is costly it makes more sence financially to overlap 2 pieces orientated 90 degrees because there is much less waste. At this point it would cost me another $50 to have a singular piece but if 2 pieces, properly applied would do I'm wondering why not?
