So my question is; does anyone know of a company that sells prefabricated maroske fittings?

Those Vitudden fittings are the only truly recessed pre-fab fittings I've seen. (And, it looks like they might even have enough thread depth to handle the wood-epoxy deck thickness...) It would be great if somebody brought them into NorthAmerica.

The KajakSport fittings are used in a lot of commercial boats-the Romany and other NDK boats have something similar-, but most of them are designed to go into a molded depression in the deck, using a machine screw for fastening (with the underside sealed up with a glob of mat and resin in the NDK boat we own). Still, the rounded ones look OK on a surface mount; I'd use a good-sized washer under the deck.

The big advantage of 'bar-type' fittings is the capacity to handle a bunch of lines and bungees - a failing of most of the KS fittings I've seen, as well as the Maroskes.

The 'webbing through the deck' attachment points work, but I found that the webbing tended to wrinkle in use, and I worried about the silicone sealant breaking down and leaking when I used them on an Outer Island. It's also tricky to avoid getting epoxy into the webbing using some of the methods, and that's an invitation to breaking the webbing.

Lathe-turned or routed wooden 'cups' with bars (Rod Tait @ Orca Boats does these) look very good on a wood boat, or you can mold some glass shapes (icecube tray) and sink them into the deck and add bars, but Maroskes would be less work and perhaps easier to get a good-looking result.

It's only another weekend (or less) to add Maroskes.... if we wanted boats in a hurry, we would not have gotten into this, right? ;-)
