The problems I have are

- A number of strips are quite thin (excluding those sections I have replaced because I sanded all the way through)
- Once I removed the staples in the hull in a few places the strips are floating above the forms. This gives a wavy appearance along the hull.

If you follow Rob's suggestion to start over - which I agree with - I'd suggest giving a hard look to the alignment of the forms. I usually tack a few strips temporarily to the forms before I start with the organized 'stripping' and those temporary strips often highlight problems with mis-aligned forms.

If you have reasonable-quality wood, the strips will tend to generate a fair surface on most parts of the hull.

I'd also suggest using a 'foamboard' long board for most of your sanding on the hull - I use a piece of fairly stiff building foam about 3" x 20" with coarse self-adhesive sanding (roll) paper for sanding the hull. Think of it as 'getting in shape for paddling' exercise... ;-)
