IMHO, lashing, while providing a very strong bond, is a major overkill. Yes, the lashed join can withstand several hundred pounds, however, far less is needed.
In SOF it is primarily the skin, not so much the lashes\screws that holds everything together. I lashed my SOF boats, but if I ever do another SOF, it would be something simple, like expoxy + screw.
I'd say you can't go wrong with anything Tom Yost suggests.
