Skin-on-Frame: Lashing stopper

Hello all,

I'm beginning to lash up my first SOF Kayak (Yost Sea Bee). I'm using no glue on this entire kayak - lashings only. I'm following the method described so well in the Kudzu lashing videos on YouTube, but I'm stumped when it comes to the finishing stopper knot at the very end.

In those videos the final knot is easily slipped down against the rest of the lashing so it will permanently hold. Every time that I try to do that I end up tightening the knot 1-3 inches away from the rest of the lashing. Maybe I'm doing the wrong kind of knot?

I'm no knot expert (I can tie my shoes on most days). Can someone please tell me how the heck to get any kind of stopper knot up tight against the lashing so there's no room to back off? I've Googled without success, but learned a dozen ways to tight a knot that can't be tightened up against the lashing.

Thanks!
