yep....what you are experiencing is correct.

so you will have a 2 to 3 strips that will need quite a bit of 'twist' to transit this area.

here are a couple things that got me through this phase.

first, ...a heat gun....on the strip will significantly improve its ability to take twist.....and is a very useful tool for a lot of the strip-built boatbuilding process.

heat the strip (as hot as you can make it without burning it) and simultaneuously twist it (you may want to practice on a scrap strip to sort out your heat-gun setting). you will be surprised how much it loosens things up.

that said, it will still take a bit of force to hold everything in place. i made generous use of 3M strapping tape (with the filament in it to prevent stretching) to hold the strip in place after glueing. by taping the strip and strapping back towards your strongback, you can hold that twist in.

you may also find that staples will not really hold in this area. i used some plywood strip holders that i made that i could temporarily c clamp to the forms to hold the strips in place here until the glue set up. i used these when the staples did not have enough hold to keep the strip in place.
