All I can say is, Skip doesn't do things quite the way I might if I were him. For instance, that paddle is the only double blade he's ever made as far as I know, and why it has square corners beats the thunder out of me. He enters races regularly and has for years, but never yet learned to use a full body forward stroke. He uses foam cores for light weight, but then turns around and uses heavy exotic woods. But none of that is any business of mine, and in the meantime he has more fun building and paddling than the next dozen boat builders I know of combined. He has also inspired me to try things I might not have without his lead. Finally, he's just plain great fun to hang out with, and so's Mrs. Skip.
