Yes, this is my own design. I plan to use 1/4'' strips. I'd prefer fewer stations to save some tedious work. Is there any advantage to having forms spaced every 12'' vs. 16'' or 24'' ?

A uniform batten or strip bent around several points will create a series of conic curves, 3 points for each hyperbolic segment and 4 points for a circular arc, with perhaps a straight line here or there.

A hull designer must design within the limits of what can be built. The numbers of station forms for my designs varied from 1 to 12. I predetermine the form count based on planned construction and hull type and use a spreadsheet to determine hull shape for given form locations, this must sound backwards to some but the transition into a hull design program for final sizing, shaping, and hydrostatic and hydrodynamic analysis is simple with this approach.

Ultimately the maximum practical space between frames for strip-building is limited by the ability of the strips to form fair shapes between the forms which in turn is limited by the uniformity of the strips themselves. Using carefully selected 3/32 WRC strips I have worked with forms 24" apart, but I wouldn't do it again, it turned out more time-consuming than I expected. I find that sort of thing easier when building with plywood where planks are wider and the material is uniform.
