Yes I know, gel-coat is thought of as a fix to problems, it's basically just paint or at least does the same thing when applied after the boat is built. I've told customers to think of gel-coat as paint, so if you can't fix a problem with paint (which they can understand) then you also don't fix it with gel-coat.

Everyone seems to think and some professionals still recommend it, that the gel-coat seals the laminate to keep the water away from the glass, but water goes right thru most gelcoat, it's not why it was put on the boat to start with.
