As John said, the jig saw doesn't matter, you should cut wide and use a sanding disk.
One cheap way to get one is to buy a disk for your table saw - no teeth, relatively thick, to stick on a 10" adhesive sanding disk.
Sears use to sell them.

Now you have the same thing as the dedicated machine for less, very stable, and a larger disk.
