I rarely see a strip kayak with properly fit B+C strips, and they have terrible fill jobs and fractured glass because the joint has no structural integrity.
But then
As an experienced woodworker with a fair amount of boatbuilding experience, I would only do B+C because the contact area for glue is twice as great, leading to a stronger joint, and giving a greater chance of some structural integrity if it's not a perfect fit all the way around the bead, because even if you only get 50% contact that's as much as is possible with a beveled strip.

Setting up B&C router bits perfectly is the hardest thing you can do with two routers. The first time I made B&C strips I didn't get it right. And I used those strips. I would bet 90% of builders doing their own B&C do the same.
I stopped using B&C because the cove hides the joint and I had thick glue lines appear after sanding.
Depending on the design you build you could strip 90% with a 3˚ angle precut on one strip edge.
How do you think these people would fare fitting beveled strips?
to someone who can't even properly sharpen and set up a block plane.
I think people will have greater success in learning to sharpen a block plane to an adequate level for beveling strips than they will in setting up router cutters to perfectly mill B&C. And they will have the hull half stripped and perhaps not even done any hand beveling in the time it would take to set-up and mill B&C. Oh, and the beveled joint will be totally visible so there's no guessing if it's good or not.
Each strip should be prefitted, bent into shape with a heat glue, so no force is needed to place the strip and the joint will be tight. In my instruction book I state this as JOB #1. Nothing deserves more attention because stripping well will make every other step of the construction easier.
