How do you handle the forward end of the lines? Are they terminated at the bulkhead? through the bulkhead into the fwd compartment? turned and brought back to a fixed point closer to the cockpit?

In the skis I've seen there's a tension/slack/stretch 'turnbuckle' on the fwd bulkhead. In a kayak this (between the footboards and the bulkhead) would be (for me) an almost inaccessible location.

I'm thinking that an adjustment in the cockpit area might be easier - either knots or LineLocs, or??

I simply bond carbon fiber padyeyes to the forward bulkhead and knot the lines to them. I've done done adjustments in the cockpit (by knotting the lines together) and also by adjusting at the rudder. Losing access to a tensioner at the bulkhead (ala surf ski) is one downfall of using the system in a kayak. It's a small price to pay. You could run the lines through the bulkhead and place the tensioner in the forward hold. It wouldn't be as watertight though.
