It was fairly clear, added a slightly yellow-tinted light brown color to the wood, quite attractive I thought but try it on scarp before committing an entire boat. Haven't used it for a long time, there may be several types. Definitely meant to go on unprepared wood BTW. It gave the zinc-plated screws of the patio furniture a pleasant brass-like appearance, and I don't know if this is due to the Cetol but not one screw has shown the least rust, that's 30 years for the two original chairs and 20-25 years for the other three items.

I would think that, for the conventional canoes that I build which do not have glass or epoxy - other than as an adhesive - it would look rather nice on the interior with a conventionally painted outer hull, perhaps a contrasting strip for the topsides and varnished gunnels and breast hooks. Hmm . . . that does sound nice. I've got a couple nearly ready for finishing . . .
