You can also glue the deck to the hull before epoxying the tape on the inside. Just use thickened epoxy for the glue and it will also fill the gaps so when you do epoxy the inside the gaps will already be filled. Then, if you haven't already glassed the outside of the deck, you can overlap the seam between the deck and hull and have a very strong seam. Overlap about 1 inch and apply blue tape along that inch and then when the epoxy is semi-hard, you can bend the tape back and cut it off and have a straight seam on the hull that you can feather with sandpaper.
