Hahahahahah John, you are the first person to notice the colours on the decal - even though I've had them on all my boats for years now!! It never occurred to me that the green was on the port!!!

In the meantime, that's the Newfoundland Tricolour - an unofficial flag of the island portion of the province that has gained great popularity lately. Supposedly, it's a variation on the Irish flag with the orange (Protestant) panel being replaced by the rose, which is the liturgical color of the Catholic church. Nobody pays any attention to the religious symbolism anymore but see it as way of showing the uniqueness (and rebellious spirit) of Newfoundland. The flag originates from circa the 1880's

The green panel is hoist side, so that is why it is on the left - I like the flag to be in the right orientation when I look at if from the cockpit!!
