Don't know if this will help, but there is an shoe liner Sorbathane. I got mine in a running store. The are not soft, rubbery. The are designed to absorb the shock your feet have to deal with. They are over the counter and can do no harm,

Sorbathane sounds interesting and it gives me an idea. I did a google search and it sounds similar to the material found in the old gel wrist rests. I just hot wired an old one I had into thin sheets to use a shock absorbers on my FPV quadcopter. If it will work for shock absorption there...maybe it'll work on my feet....:)
