Skin-on-Frame: Yost Sonnet 16

a friend is building a Yost Sonnet 16, neither one of us has ever built a SOF, and he’s now at the point of cutting the hole in the fabric for the cockpit, and per the instructions, is to place the rear of the coaming over the rear brace, which puts it approximately 126’’ back from the tip of the bow. This placement seems quite far aft, when compared to strip builts, but his brace appears to be in the proper location, so we’re wondering if this far aft placement is simply a difference between strippers and sof’s or we've done something wrong?

Wondering if anyone might have built a Sonnet 16, and has some guidance for that cockpit placement?
Any advice is much appreciated.
