Nothing at all wrong with a wood boat. It's just nearly impossible these days to build them on a production basis and to expect you'll sell what you've built.

There are just huge differences between what can reasonably be done on a production boat and what you can fairly easily do at home.

I suspect with the kind of investment that goes into plastic molding a great deal could be done to reduce labor costs, but the big obstacles would be cost and availability of quality wood and marketing to a mass market that is ignorant of what can be achieved with wood and completely accepting of whatever comes along if it's made of some plastic. Also people in general don't want to do the maintenance . . .
