Not devellopped, just grown.

Both really. Individually trees do indeed grow just like semiconductor crystals and they propagate just like computer viruses. However wood has had millions of years of testing against the environment, vastly more than any man-made product, with only the best surviving each generation. That seems like a pretty good definition of development to me. The development didn't have any intelligent thought behind it, but I've worked for many companies about which the same can be said :)
