In Northern BC where I paddle, water remains dangerously cold all summer in most locations. Yet even on the west coast of the Queen Charlottes, I have seen guided kayakers paddling in tee shirts. Nice sunny day, I have my pfd on, right? Still makes me shudder when I see it, and it still kills kayakers on a regular basis. One of the reasons cold water kills so effectively is that in short order after immersion, your hands become useless, which makes any kind of rescue more difficult if not impossible.

Thanks for your efforts at making people aware Jeff, definitely worth doing.
