I'm a little disappointed that they didn't take advantage of many of the capabilities of 3D printing. They just went with a fairly straight kayak, but didn't even bother adding a coaming. With 3D printing they could have integrated a seat, bulkheads, hatches, possibly a skeg box, complete with the skeg in place and integrated tubes for the control cable. Printed in place flush deck line fittings would have been a piece of cake. They probably could have created a fully functional bilge pump in place with a little effort.

As a proof of concept for making objects larger than the printer it is pretty cool but they missed a chance to show off how 3D printing can do things other technologies can not.
