Yes, I've done it both ways. Laminating the glass in one step in lieu of two (seal coat + lamination) may result in slightly more epoxy being sucked into the Dacron. It works fine and saves a step.

One a few of my SOF's I used fiberglass or Vectracloth (a woven polypropylene fabric similar to Xynole) on the hull and for the decks I used printed cotton/polyester fabric by the yard from Wally-world. I skinned the entire frame with Dacron first, then laminated the hull glass, then the deck fabric. I finished the deck cloth with some clear waterborne poly. It really opens up some artistic possibilities. Once coated with UV epoxy and clear coated we have had very few issues with the colors fading. Below are a couple of pics (from my old website).

This winter I built a SOF to our local XC ski club as a fundraiser. Same Dacron/epoxy/FG skin system. The hull was Vectracloth painted white. The deck was 3oz fiberglass painted blue. The decals are laser-cut vinyl from our local printer. I have a few pictures of the build on my Facebook page (you don't have to be part of FB to access the pics). I'll have them on my website soon.
