A sling seat weighs nearly nothing, if set up right can put you closest to the bottom of the boat without touching it, nothing to stop water from being pumped out of the boat if needed, and since it can shift slightly from side to side positions you in the ideal position for rolling, they also breath very well so in hot weather perspiration isn't an issue.

If the sling is properly designed you should have little weight on your legs so no padding is needed, it should just cradle your butt, needs to wrap up around towards your back to work properly.

At one time I designed and built outdoor furniture professionally, all were sling seats, done correctly they can be seriously comfortable for very long periods of time.
