If you never used the stuff: make a test piece! Solar Lux dries extremely fast, I recommend thinning down with acetone or you will get uneven coverage and a too dark result.

I wipe the whole boat down with denatured alcohol after applying the stain to even it out. Like with varnish, keeping a wet edge helps the overall appearance. Note that the epoxy will lift and move the stain a bit, especially if you don't wait for a complete drying of the stain.

I would avoid acetone, if you think the stuff in the stain is bad, acetone is much worse from a health perspective.
