I'm working in a 15'x20' room in an unfinished basement directly below my kitchen. I've disconnected the downdraft fan from the stovetop in the island, and temporarily connected a 210 CFM fan just to exhaust any fumes from the epoxy. I'd read of stories of some folks having allergic reactions to epoxy so just wanted to be safe.

The basement is consistently 60 degrees F / 40-50% humidity right now. A small ceramic heater will only raise the room to about 65 degrees. Even in the summer the room is only about 68 degrees. Most of my neighbors that have refinished their basements didn't even bother putting another HVAC unit.

I was hoping to glass the boat during my Christmas vacation but its just been too cold. Now I'm getting impatient. I'm seriously thinking of putting a propane heater that exhausts out the same wall as the existing downdraft fan. The outside is Hardy plank siding. I could drill a hole for the chimney and then just replace the entire piece of siding when this project is done or just leave it their for future projects.

I also need to add a humidifier. The deck of my wife's boat (one that I did the Celtic heart inlay on) has started to develop cracks around the recessed cockpit coaming. Probably more an indicator that I didn't glue well enough in a few spots. I think I'll be ok if I can raise the humidity a bit. I think the cracks will close up and I can epoxy over them.
