I would go with an easy to adjust rudder. The Yukon does not catch a lot of
wind and I have never felt any weathercocking but my rudder is down all the
time. I wanted the knees up option to allow good rotation. With a skeg, I
would want more grip on the cockpit for edging. The rounded cross section of
the Yukon may not respond to edging as well as other boats you
have paddled. Edging and correcting strokes are going to slow you down.
For further design/rudder comments I would defer to Nick.
I am in Milton NH and if you want to try mine with the rudder up and down
let me know. thanks, Paul
Not sure if you got this via e-mail so I am posting.
