I would suggest trying a different print place. Around here there is a blueprint shop that can handle any file format I'm aware of and can print as large as 48" wide by almost unlimited length, as they print off a roll. Most of their printers are plotters, so they're extremely accurate.

The local "print shop" employees' eyes glaze over as soon as you say "I need."
