I have a NH. I have vacillated back and fort between having one or not. I've been paddling my NH since 09. I built a skeg two years ago, but didn't install it. There are certain conditions when you just need one, and when you need one you need one. I usually only feel I need one a time or two a season, but last season I had quite a few paddles where my fun quotient was significantly reduced because I was struggling with quartering astern seas that my commercial-skegged companions burned through no problem. so- on my impossibly long list of things for this season is... finish and install that skeg.
