I used them last summer to transport a kayak from South Carolina to Michigan. It took over four month to get the kayak and when I received it the hull had a lot of water damage. The kayak was a Tahe Greenland T with carbon fiber hull. The kayak was wrapped in plastic, shipped to a storage yard for a month where the plastic was ripped open, water entered the plastic and vaporized from the sun. The end result was receiving an epoxy/carbon fiber hull kayak that had white caulking impregnated into the carbon fiber and epoxy. Steve didnt seem to understand that epoxy is water resistant and not water proof. If the kayak you are having shipped isn't plastic or covered with gel coat I would make sure they understand what it needs so that it isn't damaged during shipping. My hull ended up being okay after I spent a few days rubbing it out a with a buffer, but what a disappointment when I recieved the kayak and removed the plastic. Because I build kayaks I understand the characteristics of epoxy, but the people that transport kayaks are ussually experienced kayakers but not builders and they don't understand that epoxy isn't water proof.
