HI John,

I was involved in building a Sport Tandem and two regular CLC tandems for an adventure race group. The Sport is indeed much faster and more fun for experienced paddlers but it is much more tippy and takes a little concentration all the time. The boat went upside down too many times during our ultra marathon type races so we built a regular tandem only to find it's gigantic size made it feel like paddling a huge WIDE bathtub. The second tandem we narrowed the panels supplied by the kit by 1.5" on each bottom panel and 2" on the side panels. This gave us what we considered the perfect tandem. It was much faster and more comfortable to paddle than the original tandem but also much more stable than the Sport Tandem.

Try it and you will like it.
