Thanks all.
I know it is very late in the game and I figured I would ask Just how up a creak I am with out a paddle. I also figured it was just a madder of ease in building the lip. I am planing on doing a laminated maple lip.

After looking at some of the pictures of other boats I now see it is not such a hard dip ~2 -3+ inches in the middle. I have not had a chance to measure it. One reason I thought it was a hard dip is most of the coamings I have seen are those on moulded plastic boats which are pretty much flat.
