Further to my last post, I was experimenting with a Bruce Foil for a sailing kayak rig a few years ago. I thought it had a lot of promise. The BF is described on the web, just google it; it is a leeboard which also offsets the overturning force of the sail, allowing more sail to be carried by a small boat.
