Something like the Happy Bottom seat pad with the Rapid Pulse backband might work for me. I only do low angle touring paddling on flat fresh water rivers and ponds in good weather, no white water or rolling for me.

The ad for the Happy Bottom is unclear to me. Does the seat come with hip braces AND thigh pads? The ad says in part: comes with "integral hip braces" but includes dimensions for "thigh pads". This makes me think both are included but an image of the thigh braces are not shown. The ad also says: " We often detach the hip pads from the seat base and glue them right to the side of the kayak or to the hip braces." Has anyone done this?

Looks like the Rapid Pulse Backband attaches directly to the deck from underneath, no cheek plate required, correct?
