I saw a program a few years ago about a small company in Canada that was harvesting 100 yr. old logs from the bottom of cold water lakes. They were quite large and when cut, the grain was exceptional. I suddenly fell off of my chair when they stated that in order to maximize profit from these wonderful logs, they were cut into veneer and glued to particle board!
