Reg, I was considering the sea anchor as a temporary solution, but I'd prefer something that is quick to deploy and retrieve. The problem with stopping for photos of other boats is that the subjects move out of range so fast that quick and convenient is the order of the day if one is not to end up sheepdogging back and forth all day long.

Got it. My thoughts come back to designing the hull and seat placement such that you can change the footprint of the craft with body english.
You might try a thin cord under duct tape in the bow to lower it and then lean forward to keep it momentarily more engaged for the photography.
The biggest things that work for me is freeing the stern and a more central skeg placement.
