Launching: Fast SUP/Sit on Top Kayak *PIC*

The Bullet is launched, and wow she is fast. She's also very tippy- a strictly race SUP that will double as a SOT for afternoon paddles. Much lighter and easier to deal with than my expedition kayak.

The hull is fir that was salvaged from a sailboat mast which I towed home with some kayaking friends. The deck is paulownia with Peruvian walnut accent stripes. The inlays are abalone. The deck pad with my Cross of St. James logo was cut by hand. The deck rigging uses surfboard leash cups as flush fittings. I wanted bungees for carrying water, Otter Box, lobster snare, and snorkel gear. She is sprayed with two-part automotive clearcoat by Xotic.

Tomorrow I paddle her to Morning Star Beach, just a few miles from home to show her off at a skimboard competition. Today I did not have a fin (skeg) installed. It is on the bench with the last epoxy coat curing now. She tracked well but needs the skeg. She turned well and did a really nice leaned turn as designed. I was very pleased with that aspect of the design. Tomorrow I will have the fin installed.
