Material: Bendable Hardwood?

Has anyone used bendable hardwood for kayak ribs and coamings? It's a pre-compressed hardwood manufactured by Pure Timber LLC , http://www.puretimber.com/ that can be cold bent. It's expensive and might have to be bent over forms as it apparently is so flexible before it "sets" that it might sag in flat sections, but otherwise it looks like an interesting alternative to steam bending.
