Mike,

I was at my lumber yard 2 weeks ago and came upon the Spanish Cedar as well. A contractor, while I was waiting, told me a couple of things about Spanish Ceder. First that the smell of it while working is really bad. (Sanding). The next thing was that the sap in this wood is constantly rising to the surface and that any paint applied to it will not work well. However, if you are sealing it with resin you should be okay. The sap will be sealed in.

It does sand well and I was thinking of using it as well on my next build. I think I might keep it in my back pocket and keep looking for other woods to use.

Good luck.
