I bought the KajakSport skeg kit and I'm not happy with it, not happy enough that I've decided to not install it. The skeg box should be made of rigid fiberglass rather than flexible plastic and the adjustment control looks like it will lock up as soon as sand gets in it. I'm waiting for Nick's skeg plans to come out, so I can buy them and take a look at them. It's amazing how simple of a device a skeg should be but how most are junk when it comes to landing on beaches with dumping surf that blasts sand and pebbles into everything. I've been bashing my brains out to design a good skeg for years but can't come up with one that won't jam, is easy to adjust, doesn't put a huge hole in the bottom of my kayak, and is easily removed and repaired in the field.
