Just starting to sand the boat down as I head toward final finishes. Had no problem joining the deck and hull. Had the same worries you had but you will find little to no variance. Only area that was a bit difficult was the bow where the deck tends to spread a bit due to tension.

The real trick is putting down fiberglass tape on the seam inside. I used a trick I learned on this forum. Use hot melt glue to hold the fiberglass tape on the hull and then lay the deck on top. Worked like a charm. Wasn't able to reach the last 4-5 inches of the seam but that will be taken care of with an end pour.

I have not started the build yet . I was thinking of starting the first course at the deck sheer line at 3/16 . Then graduating the next three courses of strips 1/64 thinner and fairing then out to 1/8. A 1/16 step seems to abrupt for the fiberglass tape to bridge without air pockets developing during cure. best rh
