Hi Jack [pun not intended],
Hopefully you used enough glue between strips so they are well stuck together.I have made this mistake thinking I wont have so much glue to scrape off but the structure is too week to do the fitting removing fitting thing I do to mate the two up and I have to mend the strip joints in places.
I would consider making "shear clamps" ie make the deck fit the hull like a cigar box so there is good location.I do this any way cause I like to help myself when it comes time to actually glue them together. When you are happy the two fit together well enough then put the deck on the hull and then wrap it all up with what we call cling film [kitchen wrap] so the two halves are completely wrapped and waterproof .I would then use sticky tape to make sure the cling film doesn't blow off. Then the structure will be fairly stiff and you can transport it on a car roof rack but with care...
I would avoid the sticky tape on the bare wood as it would mean the surface has some residue of stick on it which may cause issues with the epoxy.
I haven't actually done this so ....I carry my hull into the living room from the shed [50 yards]because the solar gain in the house living room makes the conditions perfect for a clear wet out.My building shed is dark and cold.I hope you find a better way of transporting it but it's just another hurdle!
cheers from Paul .NZ.
