Has anyone tried magnetic refrigerator door tape? it isn't very powerful but applied over the entire circumference of the hatch it should have a lot of force. The type with the built in flexi-seal is the one I would try - if I put hatches on my boats - as it is more tolerant of minor surface irregularities. Problem is, it needs a steel or iron surface to stick too, but there is a tape for that too, I believe.
